New Seasons

For us, here in Alaska, August means we're moving on to fall.  School has started in the public arena and many homeschoolers are gearing up and getting ready for starting after Labor day.  Some have already begun.  This is the time we think about Caribou hunting, berries, and this year (later than usual) we are smoking and canning our salmon. (Posting an older photo with hopes the berries will be good this year ....)

Salmon Season

Fishing season is drawing to an end and yet there are still nets in the water.  We moved off the beach and are busy getting most of the gear put away.  One of the crew has left and most of the rest have their plans made.  The season started out slow, but came in with a bang!! We had a terrific crew -- most were seasoned with a couple of new guys.  They picked hard and fast and kept the truck loaded for me to deliver.  They did a GREAT job. 

This is the view standing in our front door -- I'm already having to get use to the road sounds again and am missing the lap, lap OR crushing blow of the waves pounding the beach -- all with the seagulls saying "mine, mine, mine" about some morsel of fish on the beach.

I'm doing a Blog

This will be my first post to let those who may be interested in knowing what we are doing with our different business ventures.  I had originally thought Facebook might be a way of going about this, so I shall see which is the easiest way to connect with folks.
